Conference tour will be
visiting:
- Mauna Kea Bananas and
Hamakua Springs an
innovative, award winning,
and eco-friendly
family-owned farm,
- Green Point Nurseries, a
tropical cut flower farm and
wholesaler featuring
anthuriums and many other
tropical flowers and
foliage, and
- Hawaii Pride, a facility
that uses an electronic beam
irradiator to treat fresh
produce to meet quarantine
requirements for fresh
produce shipped to the U.S.
mainland. These facilities
are not normally available
to tourists through
commercial tours.
- The tour will continue
to village of Kalapana that
was devastated by lava flows
between 1986 and 1991.

Visit Hamakua Springs Country Farms
(Richard Ha host, banana and greenhouse vegetables) |

Travel to Keaau, HI |

|
Visit Hawaii Pride, E-Beam facility for irradiation of produce for quarantine treatment (Host Eric Weinert) |

Drive to Kalapana |
|
|
Lunch and visit Kalapana lava flows (From about 1987 ? 1993 lava flows overran much of the village of Kalapana. The famous Kaimu Black Sands beach is now about ? miles inland from the new shoreline.) |
